For Secretary of State
Andrew English most recently served as General Counsel of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet for the State of Kentucky, appointed to the position by Governor Bevin and Secretary Tilley.
As General Counsel, Andrew managed a team of over forty lawyers, paralegals and investigators, and was responsible for all legal matters involving the Cabinet and its many Departments.
Prior to his appointment, Andrew served in the United States Navy JAG Corps, deploying to the Persian Gulf with Amphibious Squadron 8 and the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit onboard the USS Iwo Jima and eventually becoming lead prosecutor at the Washington Navy Yard.
Andrew remains a proud member of the U.S. Navy Reserve and holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Andrew’s experiences, particularly his deployment to the Persian Gulf, made him truly appreciate the sacrifices that not only the men and women in uniform make every single day, but also the sacrifices made by the spouses and family they leave behind.
The son of a football coach and school teacher, Andrew grew up learning the value of teamwork. He went to college on a football scholarship and earned his law degree from the College of William and Mary.
Andrew was privileged to marry his law school sweetheart, Blaire. They and their two rowdy shepherd dogs are proud to call Oldham County home.
